Empowering the Next Generation of Ethical Horsemanship Instructors
The Think Like a Pony Instructor Training Programme is a life-changing opportunity for individuals who want to inspire the next generation of equestrians while transforming the future of children’s horsemanship.
This is not just a qualification, it’s a journey in relationship-based teaching, ethical horsemanship and emotional intelligence. Unlike traditional instructor training, our programme is built around the belief that true horsemanship starts with honest communication, respect, trust and self-awareness.

We welcome passionate, dedicated individuals who share our vision for ethical, relationship-based horsemanship. Our goal is to train instructors who not only teach riding and groundwork to families but also develop children’s confidence, communication skills and emotional resilience. While our programme is primarily designed for professionals already working in the equestrian industry, we also offer alternative routes for those who are just beginning their journey with horses. These include receiving mentorship from a lead Think Like a Pony instructor or joining a volunteer-to-instructor pathway at one of our centres.

Developing horsemanship skills on the ground to a professional level of teaching and training. This will equip the trainee with the skills needed to teach groundwork skills to children or adults.

Developing balance and harmony in the saddle and developing a strong foundation level of riding. This element will equip the trainee to teach balanced and empathetic riding that takes horsemanship from the ground to the saddle.

Developing theoretical horsemanship knowledge and practising horsemanship and teaching skills through the Think Like a Pony Club. This element takes the trainee through each badge on the Club website and associated instructor training videos. Trainees are required to submit videos of their horsemanship skills for assessment through our online platform.
